8/3

Today was a wonderful start to school!  (I hope the kids share this sentiment!)  Please be sure to check and sign your child's agenda.  (That is part of their homework for you parents.  The other part is for you to fill out the parent info packets.  Thank you!)

Our first multiplication speed test today went well for some but not so well for others.  It is crucial for 5th graders to know their basic facts fluently.  We will assess their progress each week with a speed test of 100 basic multiplication facts in 5 minutes until all facts 0-12 are memorized.

The class has chosen Thursdays as our speed test day.  Please study nightly!  The first test will be identical to the practice test today, except that they are expected to know all 100 facts in 5 minutes.

Enjoy your weekend and rest up for the first full week of school!
