10/6

We had a great time on our field trip to Smithgall Woods! Students got to seine Dukes Creek to check the water quality (which turned out to be in the good to excellent range). We then learned about the American black bear, Ursus Americanus. Did you know that if you happen upon a bear, you should make loud noises, make yourself as large as possible by raising your arms, and slowly back away? Our final station taught us orienteering, using a compass, and some fun math too. Our students were extremely well behaved, and I am so proud of them!

Ms. Martin will be collecting science workbooks tomorrow to check them (through p. 27).

Please finish making economics tests corrects (70% or below required).

Career Day

Our wonderful students enjoyed Career Day today. Mr. Bavero, our guidance counselor, welcomed eight different people to share their jobs with our school. The different careers included fish and game warden, flight instructor, yoga instructor, animal control officer, dance choreographer, court reporter, engraver/etcher, and acupuncturist. For this event, students selected three careers to explore and listened to guest speakers in the gym. We learned about exciting career choices to pursue, the requirements for the different careers, and how important it is to work hard in school.

If you would like to share your career, we would love to learn more. Please contact Mrs. Dyer or Mr. Bavero.
