This Month's Genre Project: Biography

Biography/Autobiography Genre Project

During the month of January, you are required to read ONE biography or autobiography.  These books are true stories about people and can be found in the biography section in the non-fiction area of the library.  Please choose a person who interests you and a book that is within your Lexile range.
On January 30, you will present your person to the class.  You may make a poster (on a half sheet of poster board), dress up as that person, create a Power Point/Prezi, make a social media “page,” or some other creative idea.  (If you choose to dress up, you must create an accurate costume.  It does not have to cost money, but it must be realistic.)  You will have time to change into and out of your costume if you need to.
Whichever you decide, present the following:
·      Person
·      Why the person is famous
·      Important biographical information, such as birth date, place of residence, date of death, etc.  Present at least 3 biographical facts.
·      Other interesting facts
·      What you liked most about this person
·      Positive character traits this person demonstrated (honesty, dependability, etc.)
·      Title of book and author
·      Recommendation of the book (not the person!)

If you create a poster, be sure to include some type of illustration (photograph, drawing, symbol, etc.).
Also, please take note of the grading rubric at right to ensure that you earn all of the possible points to make a good grade.
