Our days continue to go very well! Yesterday we started social studies, and today we were able to squeeze in some science. I am so proud of our boys and girls!

Finish vocabulary sentences or story, IRA (favorite book), and DITB 1.
Finish math WB p. 3 (even) & p. 6 (all).
Study for spelling and vocabulary tests!

Realistic Fiction Genre Project
Each month, we focus on a particular reading genre. Of course I expect the students to read more than just the assigned genre! Their genre project is due on the last school day of the month, so 8/29 this time. This month's genre is realistic fiction. We went to the library today, so they should all have their genre book now. I passed out the genre project book report form for this month. Click HERE to download a PDF version in case you need one.

8/1 (The First Day of School!)
Today has been a great first day! Your children are precious, and I look forward to getting to know them better as we work together this year.
They have a "homework" assignment, and that is to get their agenda signed for today. You will be glad you looked at it. Please initial in the box. I do expect agendas to be signed Mon.-Fri. You never know what might be added sometimes on Friday!
Enjoy your weekend and rest up for the long week next week as we get back into the school groove.

A Few Reminders & Updates!
First, let me tell you how excited I am to meet each of you! "Meet the Teacher" is this Thursday, so drop in to room 213 anytime from 3:00-6:00. Our first day of school is Friday!
Since the "tax free" shopping weekend doesn't begin until Friday, I completely understand if you don't have your supplies yet. If at all possible, please bring some paper, a pencil, and a bag of some sort to tote your things to and from school. I have everything we need in limited supplies. (Also, if you need assistance with school supplies, Family Connections is happy to help. They are located in a classroom at the end of our gym.)
Our lunch time is 12:20, so feel free to bring a nutritious snack for the morning. Also, I allow water bottles with WATER ONLY in the classroom (except for special events). If too much intake becomes a problem, then we will limit on a case-by-case basis.
Finally, our PE day is Thursday, so remember to wear your sneakers on Thursdays. Thanks!
